Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information CarsGuyana collects, why, and the choices you have. CarsGuyana is operated by Caribbean Dynetics, a sole proprietorship registered in Ontario, Canada, which is responsible for the information described here. What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, and password (stored only as a one-way hash, never in readable form). Optionally, your phone number and whether you want buyers to be able to contact you on WhatsApp.
- Listings: what you post — vehicle details, price, region or town, description, photos, and the phone number you give for the listing.
- Payments: if you buy a Featured listing, the payment is handled by Paddle, our Merchant of Record. We never see or store your card details. We receive confirmation that a purchase was completed and which listing it was for.
- Technical data: your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you request, collected in server logs and used for security and to limit abuse (for example, to slow down automated sign-ups and password guessing).
- Cookies: we use cookies that keep you logged in and keep the site secure. Paddle may set its own cookies when you open its checkout.
What is public
Listings are public. Anyone can see a listing's details and photos. The seller's phone number is revealed when a visitor clicks "Show Phone Number", and if you turn on WhatsApp for a listing, visitors can open a WhatsApp chat with that number. Don't post anything you don't want strangers to see.
A note about photos
Photos taken on a phone can contain hidden data (called EXIF), including the GPS location where the photo was taken. We do not currently remove this data from uploaded photos. To protect your privacy, turn off location tagging in your phone's camera settings, or avoid photographing a vehicle at your home address.
How we use it
- to run the Service: show your listings and let buyers and sellers get in touch;
- to process Featured-listing purchases and provide support;
- to prevent fraud, spam, and abuse, and to keep the Service secure;
- to meet our legal obligations.
We don't sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
- Hosting provider: our website is hosted by Hostinger, which stores our data on its servers.
- Paddle: processes payments as Merchant of Record under its own privacy notice.
- WhatsApp: only if a visitor chooses to open a WhatsApp link; the chat then happens on WhatsApp under its own terms.
- Authorities: where we're legally required to, or to protect people from fraud or harm.
Our hosting provider's servers may be outside your country, so your information can be processed in other countries.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and listings until you delete them. You can delete any listing yourself under My Listings, and ask us to close your account at any time. Payment and tax records are kept by Paddle for as long as the law requires.
Your choices
You can ask us to give you a copy of your personal information, correct it, or delete it, and you can withdraw consent (for example, by turning off WhatsApp on a listing) at any time. Email admin@caribbeandynetics.com and we'll respond within 30 days. We handle personal information in line with applicable privacy law, including Canada's PIPEDA.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections and hashed passwords. No online service is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
Children
CarsGuyana is not intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above.
